Off The Hook x Brakeless Collection

Montreal-based boutiques Off The Hook and Brakeless have collaborated on this collection of biking essentials. Having teamed up with designers Dylan Adair and Jeremy Wirth, they introduce a 5 panel, Quintin-produced hat that features a reflective strap in the back. A messenger bag by Re-Load which features the official OTHxBRKLSS logo, and four graphic tees are included in the collection. The standout item however, is the Sylvester-built custom welt Marinoni bike frame.

Raised by Wolves x Furni Summer 2010 Watches

Canadian labels Raised by Wolves and Furni have re-issued their digital watch collaboration this summer. Available in grey, yellow, or green, the PVC watch features Indiglo backlight with phone book, stopwatch, multiple alarms, and dual time functions. The Big L inspired lyric “this ain’t the time to have your wrists freezin” is engraved on the back of the watch. The timepieces are available at Furni ($28 CAN).

SNAP! Issue 11

The latest issue of Montreal quarterly street magazine SNAP! boasts a new 10×16 in. format to showcase some of the most compelling artistic content. A design by Calgary-based mixed media artist Jared Larsen covers the issue which includes commentary on “all things print, publication, and paper — from magazine culture to the decline in newsprint journalism, to discussions with six paper-based artists woking out of Montreal”.

The Paintings of Jason de Graaf

Jason de Graaf is a photorealist artist from Quebec. He is able to document what he sees through his art and also create the illusion of depth and sense of presence not found in photographs. Jason’s paintings “are about the relationship of light with reflective and transparent surfaces and his journey to understand those qualities and convey his sense of wonder and intrigue over them.”

L’Éloi

Founded in 2001 to offer an artist representation service combined with a production company, L’Éloi now represents some of the best Canadian photographers and videographers. With 2 studios in the heart of Montreal, an expanding L’Éloi has ventured into various talent representation with the Agence Satellite division.

Two new prints by Montreal-based graffiti duo, 123klan, have surfaced. Continually producing pieces with great graphic integrity, “Banditism” and “Le voleur” show no exception. “Banditism” plays on a number of popular and ubiquitous logos including a nod to New Era. “Le voleur,” which shows a burglar attempting to escape with a flawed loot bag, is equally as bold.

Limited to 20, plus 6 hand-signed and embossed, the prints are available at Pigments Editions ($90 US).

Naked & Famous x Momotaro Jeans

Naked & Famous Denim has teamed up with Kojima-based Momotaro. Produced in Japan, the denim is made on old shuttle looms and the hems are done with a union special chain stitch. The jeans also feature a lamb leather patch and signature Momotaro pink stitching. When inside-out, the jeans display prints in honour of the denim companies’ respected nations. The left back pocket bares a red maple leaf on the inside, while the right pocket displays the red dot associated with the Japanese rising sun.

The jeans will be sold at Barneys New York as of October 2010.

Paulrose Products S/S 2011 Preview

Paulrose Products is a take on classic workwear through the lens of Brandon Svarc. After carrying on the legacy of his grandfather, the original creator of the brand, Svarc has dedicated his focus on creating quality pieces including his upcoming 2011 release. Based in Montreal, the Canadian products utilize vintage Japanese denim and shirting fabrics. While the Spring/Summer 2011 collection looks very promising, loopwheeled fleeces are a standout.

HBC x Klaxon Howl Shirt

The Hudson Bay Company, the oldest commercial corporation in North America, has welcomed another collaboration for its in-store heritage section. Vintage goods purveyor, Matt Robinson of Klaxon Howl has teamed up with HBC to produce a button up chambray. Offered in grey, blue, and brown, the HBC x Klaxon Howl shirts are available in Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver Hudson Bay locations.
